The University of Melbourne has received $ 10 million as a fund for Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies from the current National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). NHMRC has announced the four groups of research as recipients of the grant scheme formed to provide better health treatments, policies, practices and outcomes. The research of these four groups will focus on several important areas, such as preventing neonatal respiratory morbidity, preventing asthma and preserving lung function, and improving the health of First Nations people. Jane Gunn, Dean of the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences has announced this information. He said that “I am proud of the diversity represented in the groups who received the funding. It is fantastic to see acknowledgement of their important work and their contributions to the health of our communities, and particularly to see that two of these studies address gaps in Indigenous health.”
