Moriah College's head of English has been charged with having and transmitting child abuse material. Cody Michael Reynolds, 36, was arrested on Wednesday at his Kensington home. He started teaching at Moriah at the beginning of last year, but he has also worked at The Scots College, Lewisham Christian Brothers High School, and Waverley College.
On Wednesday, Moriah, a private school in Queens Park, sent a letter to parents informing them that police had assured them that none of the alleged crimes took place at the school or involved Moriah individuals.
"He was hired in accordance with our severe hiring standards," the letter stated, "which includes extensive references and child safety vetting." "Mr Reynolds' position at the College has been put on hold indefinitely."
